E Cyclers of Idaho is one of the few places certified to recycle electronic components and other machines like phones, tablets and more. On Feb. 22, E Cyclers and Idaho National Laboratory are organizing a recycling effort for people to clean out the old tech drawers and recycle these machines that don’t see much use anymore.

“The raw materials, if not handled correctly, can harm the environment. So if anything, it's more dangerous to be throwing away these devices that contain these materials in them, because they can leach down into the groundwater and into the soil and that can really harm the environment, which is exactly why INL has joined us in educating the community to prevent these potential future issues and keep all electronics and other harmful materials out of landfills,” said Dan Forbush, the owner of E Cyclers.

According to Forbush, there are both outdoor and indoor events and the first one will be indoors in the Idaho Falls Public Library on Feb. 22 from 10 a.m. - 3 p.m. The business can also delete or sanitize sensitive data.

“We have an acceptable items list on items that you are able to bring to these events for free, that we accept, that we can recycle for you guys. So this information can be found on our website,” Forbush said.
