BYU-Idaho student Ethan Julander will have a showing of his new documentary “Legacy” for the community to watch.
The film documents the local Legacy Flight Museum, which is devoted to aviation during World War 2, the Korean and Vietnam wars and other conflicts. He initially created the film so he could apply to film school.
"Ultimately I decided not to go with that film school, but I had the opportunity to make a documentary for that application,” Julander said. “I thought, ‘Oh, the Legacy Flight Museum, I think they have a good story to share,’ and so that's ultimately why I decided to make a documentary for them.”
The film tells how the people who fought in those wars and conflicts have lessons and stories to teach others but sometimes have been ignored.
“It has a wonderful message, not just about their plane collection or the things they showcase in the museum, but of the legacy that it carries, you know, these men and women who served in these wars, if it weren't for the innovations that they made and the sacrifices they made, we really wouldn't be where we are today,” he said.
The film will debut at the Romance Theater in Rexburg on Jan. 22 at 7:30 p.m.
