BYU-Idaho’s Career Center has been a big supporter of students finding jobs, internships and graduate programs. On Feb. 20 at the BYU-Idaho Center from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., the Career Center will host the Winter Career Fair.
This event will focus on helping students to succeed in the job marketplace while improving their skills as employees.
"We have local companies, local banks. We have companies who are looking for seasonal workers for summer jobs,” said Janet Barton, the organizer of the event. “We have a lot of engineering firms, social services, school districts. We also have some bigger names like Melaleuca, Clenera, Love’s Travel Stop, Sherwin-Williams. The Church IT Department is coming to recruit students.”
Not just companies are coming but also schools from Utah and Idaho as well with people for the Career Center being at the event to help people with developing skills like improving resumes and how to ace interviews. Not only does the student body love it but the companies too.
“They said the BYU-Idaho Career Fair has always been one of their favorites,” Barton said. “So they're very excited when we brought it back. And we've really just tried to uphold that reputation and that tradition of having a very professionally run Career Fair. They love recruiting our students. Employers every year tell us that our students are well prepared, that they are passionate, and that they are interested in talking to them. They're always very complimentary. So we're very proud of our career fair at BYU-Idaho.”
