The Greater Blackfoot Chamber of Commerce has a State of the City/County Luncheon for all those interested on Feb. 19 from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at 123 North Ash St.
People are invited to find out how Blackfoot has improved and grown over the last year.
“The purpose of the State of the City and County is to give the community an overview of the city's current conditions and to highlight the accomplishments of the past year. They'll also be discussing future plans for Blackfoot and Bingham County,” said Jamie Popejoy, one of the coordinators of the event.
One of the main topics being shared is the downtown revitalization project which is to improve the city’s capabilities in handling foot traffic.
“We are redoing the sidewalk on North Broadway Street. That's important to our downtown businesses because they need to be ADA compliant. Also, it's going to help with parking and as many people know, North Broadway is the street that leads right to the fairgrounds. So those sidewalks are very important for those visitors to be able to come and go from the fair,” Popejoy said.
