Bingham & Sons is a local business that has been operating here in eastern Idaho since 1927, becoming a staple of Rexburg. Now located on Main St., it got its start as the Maytag Store in Burley, then moved to Idaho Falls in 1935 and opened in Rexburg in 1940. After that, it became the Bingham & Sons brand and has been passed down from father to son until 2019 when Amy Walker, a descendant of the original founder, and her husband, Kody, took over.
“One of the huge misconceptions about independent retailers in our industry is, we're going to pay more money when we go to an independent retailer, and that's a misconception,” Kody Walker said. “I think that's shared wider by people who are moving to our state that haven't maybe had the opportunity to shop in a local dealer.”
Even though they are a local company, they sell many brands like Frigidaire, Whirlpool, Maytag, LG and others while also focusing on local brands of furniture and appliances. They also are one of the largest independent Ashley Furniture dealers. They sell furniture for the living room, bedroom, kitchen and more.
“You'll be taken care of better than you ever have at any other retail store and you'll leave here knowing that this is probably the last place you'll shop for furniture and appliances,” Kody Walker said.
The Walkers say they are looking forward to more business for generations to come. Bingham & Sons is open in Rexburg at 11 West Main St. from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. except on Saturday when it closes at 3 p.m. You can also visit their website.
