REXBURG—Going to the movies has been a part of our culture all over the world for over a century. Unfortunately, films made outside of the United States are often hard to find. With International Cinema at BYU-Idaho in the Jacob Spori Building, you can see these and more.

“Probably my favorite is he second one we will be showing February second: "A Man Escaped." Based on a true story about a French prisoner of war, during the Nazi occupation of France during World War II, and his attempt to escape this prison camp. I would say it is the most suspenseful movie I have ever seen,” said Michael Cornick, the leader of International Cinema nights.

The event is every other Friday, starting this Friday. You’ll often find many humanities and video production students, but anyone can attend.

If you’ve never experienced an international movie before, they vary in style and include movies like anything from the popular Studio Ghibli to the lesser known.

This semester’s movies start with “Luana: A Yak in the Classroom.” Other movies include: “A Man Escaped” on Feb. 2, “The Perfect Candidate” on Feb. 16, “Kind Hearts and Coronets” on March 1, “The Summit of the Gods” on March 15 and “The Fencer” on March 29. All shows are free.

They are shown in Spori room 035 at 7:00 p.m. You can find out more online or on the iBelong app.
