BYU-Idaho and its Departments of Campus Recreation and Fitness/Wellness have teamed up to bring a powerlifting competition to the Hart Building.

The event will happen on Saturday, March 16 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. There will be squats, bench and dead lifts for this event.

"My favorite part of the powerlifting event was just seeing all the competitors cheer each other on and help each other out," said Malia White, one of the members of the Campus Recreations Department. "You can just tell that all the participants just had a good time with each other and even though it was a competition, it still was really fun for everyone."

To encourage safety for this lighthearted competition there will be spotters and safeguards so all participants can have a safe and fun time.

"I want to remind everyone that this event is super fun, such a great environment and it’s just a good opportunity to get some experience in a powerlifting competition and in an environment that's still really chill and with not a lot of pressure. It’s just a really fun environment and a good opportunity to get your foot into the door into something like this," White said.
