BYU-Idaho Radio students, staff win awards from Idaho Press Club

BOISE—Students and full-time employees with BYU-Idaho Radio won multiple awards at the 2025 Idaho Press Club Awards Banquet on Saturday.

The radio station entered audio stories, interviews and other content into several categories.

The winners include:

Natalia Hepworth – 1st place in the General News Report category for her story about Venitox, a snake venom business and 2nd place in the General News Report category for her story about RootsTech Family Discovery Day

Alex Batman – 1st place in the Data Driven Journalism category for his story about divorce rates going down

Austin Pace – 2nd place in the Spot News Report for his story about Kilane Sitake’s contract extension and 3rd place in the General Excellence category for his story about Strider the bernedoodle at Thunder Ridge High School

Kimber Pearce – 2nd place in the Serious Feature Report category for her story about bat hibernation caves

Brandon Isle – 3rd place in the General News Report category for his story about the 5,000th episode of Music and the Spoken Word.

The radio station also won 2nd place for its website.

BYU-Idaho Radio has two full-time employees and more than a dozen student employees who work as journalists, music program producers, digital content creators and podcasters. The news content is broadcast on KBYI 94.3 FM and shared to the BYU-Idaho Radio podcast.
