BYU-Idaho has a new challenge for students that takes them to the top of the Tetons, at least figuratively. The Grand Teton Stair Climb Challenge is where any student or employee can climb a mountain’s worth of height whenever they want.
"It’s a fitness event that we put on every year, in the month of June," said Brielle Cazier, one of the members of the Campus Recreation Department. "You have a whole month to complete a challenge and it’s climbing 41,325 steps but you have the whole month to complete this challenge."
There are many methods to accomplish this and not only feel good about yourself but also to win a T-shirt with the Tetons in the background. If you're one of the first three finishers, there's a free Crossroads gift card for food.
One of the best methods to log those steps is at the Hart Building’s Fitness Center, which has stepping machines that can help increase the count. However, Malia White, another member of the Campus Rec Department, has another suggestion.
“We also have a route set up that people could follow that makes it really easy to complete the challenge, so we have a video on our Instagram account - it’s BYUI Fitness Activities - and on that video, it shows the route that you have to take on the stadium bleachers in order to finish the challenge,” White said.
