Elder John C. Pingree Jr. to Speak at Winter Commencement

REXBURG, Idaho – Elder John C. Pingree Jr., General Authority Seventy of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, will address 2,403 graduates at Brigham Young University-Idaho’s 2025 Winter Semester Commencement on Friday, April 11, 2025. The event will be held at 12:45 p.m. in the BYU-Idaho Center and streamed live at byui.edu/live/video.

The university will award 2,027 bachelor’s degrees and 427 associate degrees. Of the graduates, 1,375 are women, and 1,028 are men. Campus-based students make up 1,688 of this semester’s graduates, while 715 of the graduates are online students, and 811 of those graduating started their college career as BYU-Pathway Worldwide students.

Elder John C. Pingree Jr. was sustained as a General Authority Seventy on April 1, 2017. He currently serves as the Executive Director of the Correlation Department. Previously, he has served in the Mexico Area Presidency, the North America West Area Presidency, and the Temple Department.

Elder Pingree received a Bachelor of Arts in English in 1990 and a Bachelor of Science in political science in 1991, both from the University of Utah. He also received a Master of Business Administration degree from Harvard Business School in 1993. During his career, he worked in the fields of biotechnology, healthcare, and finance. He also volunteered with several global health and human rights organizations.

He married Anne Pugsley in March 1990. They are the parents of five children.
