REXBURG, Idaho—The Brigham Young University-Idaho Department of Theater and Dance is excited to present its first production of the spring semester, “Blithe Spirit.”
The show opens to students and the public today, May 25, 2022 at 7:30 p.m. at the Snow Drama Theatre on the BYU-Idaho campus. Show times and ticket prices are from May 25–28, May 31, and June 1–4. All performances begin at 7:30 p.m. except for the June 4 performance which begins at 2:00 p.m.
Written in 1941, “Blithe Spirit” served as a defense mechanism against the harsh realities England faced during World War II. West End audiences embraced this darkly amusing production and it remained the longest–running comedy in the history of British theater for three decades thereafter.
Set in the drawing room of the wealthy author, Charles Condomine, and his second wife, Ruth, this comedy unfolds as, in an attempt to gain inspiration for a new book, Charles invites an eccentric medium into his home to perform a séance. Charles’ first wife visits him from the dead, and chaos ensues.
Tickets are on sale now at https://www.byui.edu/university-services/event-services/ticket-office or at the ticket office on campus. Tickets cost $3 for students and $6 for the public.
