William Shakespeare’s Much Ado About Nothing is a frequently performed comedy about two vastly different romantic love stories. The audience will ponder whether love deserves a second chance in this version of the play set in the spring of 1919.
After the end of The Great War and World War I, Leonato and his family joyfully welcomed the weary and wounded heroes home. A particularly warm welcome has been reserved for the gallant Claudio by the lovely Hero, Leonato’s only daughter. A particularly prickly welcome was given to the misogynistic Benedick by Beatrice, the woman he once wooed and then betrayed. The deceitful Don Jon, currently in his optimistic brother’s good graces, looks for any (and every) way possible to cause trouble.
