Statistical Science Introduction

The statistical science major gives you the tools you need to help others make informed decisions as you draw reliable conclusions from organized data. You will be able to ensure that you are ethically and expertly using data to communicate with others.

1. Core Mathematical Foundations
This area establishes the foundation you need to understand statistical theory. You study master calculus, vector spaces, and mathematical proofs.

2. Statistical Theory and Modeling
You learn the statistical theories of probability and mathematical statistics alongside applied modeling methodologies. This allows you to understand what statistical procedures are required for specific situations.

3. Data Analysis and Computing
You focus on the application of software and data systems to manage, clean, visualize, and extract insights from data. Using industry-standard tools, you transform.

4. Experimental Design and Research Methodology
Students learn how to structure valid experiments, collect reliable data, and apply appropriate univariate or multivariate testing methods to solve real-world problems.

5. Professional Practice and Experiential Learning
This final area bridges academic knowledge and career readiness. It emphasizes professional communication, career preparation, and collaborative consulting, or field experience.
