Art Education: Composite (B.A.)

As an Art Education Major, you will have the opportunity to study a variety of art studio processes as well as how to teach them. You will learn how to inspire future students in art techniques, self-expression, and creativity.

Make a Difference Through Art
As an art education student, you will develop skills in artistic creation in media, such as drawing, painting, ceramics, photography, and more. You will also learn methods for teaching those artistic processes, curriculum development, strategies for assessment, and classroom management. The Art Education Composite Degree is designed to prepare students to earn Idaho teacher certification with an endorsement in Art in grades K-12.

Students can choose one of five areas to focus on:

Art teacher K-12
The Art Education Degree prepares students to become art teachers in public education. Most opportunities are at the secondary level (middle or high school), but there are also some at the elementary school level.
Curator
Curators administer collections, such as artwork, collectibles, historic items, or scientific specimens from museums or other institutions. They may also conduct instructional, research, or public service activities.
Art Director
Art directors formulate design concepts and presentation approaches for visual productions and media, such as print, broadcasting, video, and film. They also work in artwork and layout design.
