Registering for First-Semester Requirement Courses
If you have been assigned a BYUI 101 tag, you will see two registration options when you go to register for classes:
- BYUI 101
- BYUI 101 Freshman Connect Bundle
Option 1: Registering for an Individual BYUI 101 Section
Selecting “BYUI 101” will display the available individual sections of BYUI 101.
- Review the available meeting patterns.
- Select the section you would like to enroll in.
- Add the course to your schedule.
Option 2: Registering Through the Freshman Connect Bundle
Selecting “BYUI 101 Freshman Connect Bundle” will display available bundle options.
Each bundle includes:
- One section of BYUI 101
- One BYUI 150–154 course
- One Religion course
To register:
- Select the bundle you would like to enroll in.
The system will automatically register you for all three courses at the same time. After registration, you will see a yellow confirmation banner indicating successful enrollment.
Swapping Courses After Registration
Once registered, you may see two different swap options in your registered courses:
- Swap
- Swap Set
Using “Swap”
Selecting “Swap” allows you to:
- Swap your bundle for an individual BYUI 101 section, or
- Swap your current BYUI 101 section for another available section.
Only available individual BYUI 101 sections will appear.
When completing the swap:
- The system will automatically drop all three courses from the bundle.
- It will then add the newly selected BYUI 101 section
Using “Swap Set”
Selecting “Swap Set” allows you to switch from one bundle to another bundle.
Only available bundled options will appear.
Important Note
If you register for your Freshman Focus courses through a bundle, you cannot drop or withdraw from individual courses within that bundle. Dropping one course will require dropping all three bundled courses.
Students are still required to remain enrolled in a BYUI 101 section during their first semester, even if they drop the other courses.
