Amy Hanks earned an associate degree in chemistry from Ricks College in 1996 and a bachelor's in chemistry from Utah State University in 2000. After graduation, she joined the Chemistry department at Ricks College in 2000, just before it transitioned to BYU-Idaho. In 2006, Amy completed a master's degree in analytical science from Utah State University.
Amy also serves as a co-chair on the BYU-Idaho Women in STEM Committee on campus.
