Pre-professional Conference

Each October, students have the opportunity to learn from and network with professional writers, editors, graduate school representatives, and faculty at the Pre-professional Conference. Students can learn about the following:

  • Internships
  • Career opportunities
  • How to get started in the publishing world
  • Creative writing
  • Editing for major journals, magazines, and publishing houses
  • Graduate school assistantships and other scholarship opportunities
  • Teaching writing and English
  • And more!

In addition to attending workshops and lectures, you can submit your own work in the Pre-professional Conference Writing Competition. We’re always looking for great essays, poems, short fiction, and research. Contact the English Department or any English faculty for more information. The deadline for the competition is usually in the first week of October.
