Normally dances and devotionals don’t intertwine, but at the North America Central Area Young Single Adult Conference the two come together to give the Idaho Falls YSA an experience of learning, growing and making new friendships.

The YSA Conference from The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is from Aug. 14 to 17 at the Mountain America Center in Idaho Falls and single adults from ages 18 to 35 are invited to participate.

“Our hope is that after this is all over, we have new friends, we have new inspiration, we have new habits, we have new opportunities and that this isn't just an event or it's not just a fun activity. It's kind of a new chapter in our lives, a new opportunity to go out and chart a new path,” said Brennan Summers, a member of the conference’s committee.

This year’s theme is “Think Celestial: A Guide to God’s Plan of Salvation” and many speakers will come to inspire the young adults about how they can better think celestial. The speakers are Elder Gary E. Stevenson of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles, authors Brandon Sanderson and Heather Farrell, Elder Kim B. Clark, Sister Sharon Eubank and Professor Ezra Gwilliam.

There will also be a concert performed by the band The National Parks, a dance and service projects for the city of Idaho Falls and some surrounding school districts.

Registration closes Saturday and everyone who attends must be registered. The event costs $50 and meals are included.

“For us, particularly those who are 18 to 35 that will be attending this conference, we want to make sure that we are learning and growing, but having so much fun and meeting new people and fellowshipping because this is a great time to be alive and a great age,” Summers said. “We're energetic and we're all doing exciting things, so it is important that everyone that comes has a good time and enjoys what we call the plan of happiness.”
