Every princess belongs in a palace, and “The Little Mermaid” is open now at The Palace Theatre in Chubbuck. The classic story shows until until August 17 and tickets are still available.
“We've got a bunch of things coming out. We've got smoke machines, really cool lighting and we've got people up on harnesses flying over the stage. It's honestly going to be a huge, amazing show,” said Nicole Hulse the theatre’s marketing specialist.
Tickets are available for the show only, or with an included dinner or brunch for an additional cost. Call the box office at 208-238-8001 for availability.
The Palace Theatre serves a four to five-course meal with dinner tickets, which include salad, rolls, dessert and a main entre. Concessions are also available.
“The Little Mermaid” is rated G and features cast members from the community.
“We are a community theatre, so all of our actors are from the community. It's either people who have done classes and have a degree in theater, or it could be people who are just barely starting out and have absolutely no experience. We welcome anyone to come audition for the shows,” Hulse said.
The theatre also offers a conservatory program for children ages 5 to 18. They teach acting, dancing and singing for a few hours each week. The program is after school and follows the surrounding school's schedule. They recently opened a new conservatory location in Rexburg and registration is open.
The Palace Theatre is known for its unique appearance resembling a Palace. The interior also has a royal theme that appears medieval.
“It's this big building on Chubbuck Road in Chubbuck, Idaho. And it's pretty historical. It looks really cool. It's honestly like a palace,” Hulse said.
Their upcoming show is “Jekyll and Hyde” which opens September 26.
Their Christmas production of “A Christmas Story” will open in November and auditions start in September.
