The East Idaho Fair Food Tour Announces A Second Tour

The Eastern Idaho State Fair might be cancelled this year, but that won’t stop the food from coming to east Idahoans. The Eastern Idaho Food Fair Tour is making its way across the region and will be in Rigby Thursday, Aug. 6 and Rexburg Thursday, Aug. 13.

The Rigby event is being hosted at Tadd Jenkins Chevrolet?in Rigby on Aug. 6 from 11 - 7:30 p.m. and the Rexburg event is being hosted at John Adams GMC Rexburg in Rexburg on Aug. 13 from 11 – 7:30 p.m.

Richard Johnson, owner of the Mexican Crazy Corn food truck, said that some of the vendors have gotten record sales from tour dates.

“The amount of people coming and supporting us is awesome, but we truly love the opportunity to serve our fair food to the people and bring happy smiles to their faces,” he said.

Some of the food will include: mini donuts from?MD's Dinky Donuts, turkey legs from Teriyaki Express, corndogs from?World's Best Corn Dogs Rexburg, lemonade from?Lemon Smashers, BBQ sandwiches from?Blackhawk BBQ Pit, crazy corn nachos from?Mexican Crazy Corn, gourmet tacos with rice and beans from?La Casita Mexican Food, and ice cream from?Reed’s Dairy.?

“It’s just been a great success of bringing people together even though we live in these difficult times of trying not to be too close together,” Johnson said. “It’s been one of these great things that people still want a sense of normalcy, they want to continue to do those families things they do and enjoy what they can for the summer despite the conditions that we are under.”

Food trucks are prime for social distancing since they don’t require closed in buildings or large staffs of people to prepare food. People can wait six feet apart and take their food to go. With the limited Eastern Idaho State Fair this year, the food tour has brought the fair treats to people’s neighborhoods.

“You know we have had a lot of people, from the previous areas we have been to, asking us if we are going to do it again,” Johnson said. “Yeah, we are going to go on a second tour.”

The second tour locations and dates will be announced on their Facebook page weekly, but Johnson said they will be touring through September and into early October.
