The biggest end of summer event in Eastern Idaho kicks off Labor Day weekend

Typically, the end of August is a time to say goodbye to summer and return to reality especially for the teachers and children who have the back-to-school blues. However, there is an end of summer event that seeks to let the good times roll.

Each year The Eastern Idaho State Fair attracts hundreds of thousands of people to its fairgrounds to enjoy all their favorite carnival games, food and performances. Brandon Bird, the general manager for the fair says the fair has been servicing the Eastern Idaho community for over a century.

“Eastern Idaho State Fair is celebrating its 121st year in existence. It has been around for a while, it’s outlived most of us and it is the largest and longest running community event in Eastern Idaho,” he said.

The fair will go on for nine days and feature a different event each day including multiple rodeos, a demolition derby, even performances from some big-name acts like country music singer Walker Hayes, comedian Jim Gaffigan and band Incubus.

The fair will begin on September 1 and will go until September 9. It’s located at 97 Park Street in Blackfoot, Idaho. Tickets for all the events offered at the fair are on sale now. For more information and to purchase tickets for the fair’s performances visit www.funatthefair.com.
