REXBURG—Stewards of Recovery is holding its “Spring into Sobriety” recovery festival on Saturday in Rexburg. The event aims to bring the community and families together for a fun afternoon of activities, information and inspiration.
Stewards of Recovery is the leading provider of addiction recovery services and mental health treatment in southeast Idaho. Beginning in Idaho Falls in 2015, Stewards of Recovery has expanded to include three primary care facilities in Idaho Falls, Blackfoot and Rexburg.
Stewards of Recovery offers various services assisting clients with mental health, recovery and addictions.
“We provide residential treatment programs for both adults and youth,” said Steve Orme the clinical director for the organization. “We provide all sorts of outpatient services, from counseling services to group services to recovery coach services as well. We want to be able to help these individuals out. We want to be able to assist them along their journeys of the recovery.”
The Spring into Sobriety event is the first recovery festival Stewards of Recovery has held in Rexburg. Orme hopes the event will bring people together to better understand addictions.
“Addiction can strike anybody and it's not about just drugs and alcohol,” Orme said. “We have food addictions, pornography addictions, sex addictions, drug addictions. Addiction is addiction, and that's what people don't understand is it just strikes anywhere.”
The recovery festival will have free food and several different activities for community members attending. There will be information booths, resources, raffles, speakers, a bouncy house and face painting for kids.
The Spring into Sobriety event is not just for those in recovery or their families. It is a community and family festival.
“Bring friends, bring family,” Orme said. “You don't have to be in recovery yourself, you don't have to be in addictions. It's just awareness, just coming out and listening to people's stories, interacting with people.”
The Spring into Sobriety festival will be held on Saturday from 3 - 6 p.m. at Porter Park in Rexburg. You can find more information and resources on Stewards of Recovery’s website here.
