BYU-Idaho Radio · Comedian Ryan Hamilton looks forward to performing at BYU-Idaho
Ryan Hamilton, a BYU-Idaho alumnus, now a successful stand-up comedian, will perform in the BYU-Idaho Center Friday, March 10 at 7:30 p.m. Hamilton is known for his Netflix stand-up special, "Happy Face," however he has made recent appearances on the "Tonight Show starring Jimmy Fallon," "The Late Show with Stephen Colbert" and Conan.
Hamilton grew up in Ashton and attended Rick’s College, so his performance will feel like a homecoming. While attending Ricks College, Hamilton wrote stories for the newspaper The Scroll and produced segments for the student radio station called KWBH. He graduated with an Associate Degree in Communication with an emphasis in Broadcasting from Ricks College. He then transferred to Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah, and obtained his Bachelor’s degree in communication with an emphasis in public relations.
After graduation, Hamilton pursued a career in public relations, but when Hamilton lost his job, he decided to pursue comedy.
“I did comedy a few times at Ricks College on the radio and then I didn't touch it again until after I graduated college. I wasn't thinking about it as a career, it was just something that I was always fascinated with or in other words I wasn't brave enough to think of it as a career,” Hamilton said.
Hamilton’s show will include material about his relocating to the east coast, his unfortunate incident of getting hit by a bus at a California airport, as well as some familiar jokes from his Netflix special.
Hamilton is looking forward to returning to Rexburg for the show.
