Rexburg young single adults are changing the way they date with a new blindfolded dating show called DTR Rexburg.

DTR Rexburg is a new dating show that invites contestants to get to know each other through fun questions before they ultimately choose a person to go on a date with all while blindfolded. DTR stands for determine the relationship.

BYU-Idaho student Spencer Wade realized he wanted more options for meeting people to date in Rexburg and decided to create the show.

“DTR is obviously a great date because you go to the show and funny questions are being set up there and you can kind of ask those to your day like, oh man, what do you think of that, that's kind of crazy and something to laugh about later and stuff like that,” Wade said. “It's also just a great way to meet people, not only as a contestant or bachelor, bachelorette, but it's also awesome to meet people in the crowd.”

Tuesday night’s contestants, Dallen Bair and Aysha Lewis, were able to have a fun night while meeting new people.

“I think that sometimes people take dating and looking for someone too seriously, especially in the church community,” Bair said. “There's a lot of pressure, it's an eternal marriage. But I think that it could just help to make it a little bit more lighthearted and just help people to make some friends and to, like I said, get out there.”

“Just another thing that will be in the small town that gives us the chance to meet people with similar interests and just put ourselves out there without having to worry about first impressions and being on our phones all the time,” Lewis said. “It's just the chance to meet someone in person first.”

DTR meets at Venue 101 in Rexburg. The show is interactive with, audience member participation. The show highlights are posted to DTR’s Instagram.

“Come in person if you want to watch the whole thing,” Wade said. “I mean that's really where you're going to get the whole vibe of the show. The clips on Instagram, the reels on Instagram, they're funny, they're entertaining, but they're not definitely not going to give you the whole story.”

Show dates and times can be found on Instagram @dtr_rexburg.
