The Rexburg Care Fair will be held this Saturday to help connect members of the community with health and wellness resources in the area.

The Rexburg Free Clinic partnered with Madison Cares and the Family Crisis Center to host the event. The fair will feature booths from around 10 organizations that will have goodie bags and pamphlets explaining what they offer.

“Essentially," said Maximillian Gold, the director of public affairs for the free clinic, "it's a one stop shop so that people can come in if they need help, to know where that help can be found. We want people to know that their community has their back. There's a lot of… students and community members who might be afraid to admit that they might need that help. So this is just our chance to broadcast those services, but not only broadcast it and hopefully attract more clients, but build a stronger community, build better relationships … And so my thought process is, why work separately when we can work together and do more good in the community?”

In addition to the booths, the fair will include an all-day raffle with prizes from local businesses. As attendees visit each booth, they will be given tickets to enter the raffle and winners will be announced every thirty minutes.

“We’re giving away a coupon for a free massage from intrinsic massage," Gold said, "a semester of free haircuts from Blend's barbershop, several… subway gift cards, free smoothies and food from Tropical smoothie Cafe. There's quite a bunch of different stuff from local businesses that have donated and pitched in. And we're very grateful for their generosity.”

The Rexburg Care Fair will be held in the gymnasium in the Madison School District Offices at 60 West Main Street next to Taco Bell from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.. Free hot dogs will be barbecued and served at the event for attendees and live music from a local indie band called "The Free Ones" will begin around noon.

“My goal is that we build, as a clinic, we were able to build strong relationships with all these participating organization," Gold said. "So they go ahead and say, you know what? This was a success and maybe it only took a month to plan, but now I want to work with these guys again and I want to see what we can do to improve this next year and that way we can serve more people. And so my hope is it becomes a staple of the Rexburg community.”
