BYU-Idaho Radio · Rexburg business, Crispy Cones, takes on "Shark Tank"
Crispy Cones, known for its soft serve in a fresh, dough cone, began its business in a tent on the side of the road in Rexburg. A few years later, the business is now being featured on the ABC television show “Shark Tank.”
Jeremy Carlson had the idea for Crispy Cones after serving his mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Czech Republic, where the dessert is popular. He wanted to make it popular in the states. After working hard to perfect the recipe, he opened the business.
Jeremy and his wife, Kaitlyn, always envisioned that Crispy Cones would make it big. Even when they were selling their product in a tent, they were manifesting accomplishments that have since then become a reality.
“In our minds, we were this big brand, so we treated ourselves that way through our professionality on social media and in our branding. So then when we applied to ‘Shark Tank,’ we had this manifestation attitude as well,” Kaitlyn said.
Jeremy believes it is never too late to start a business. He believes that if you have an original idea, like Crispy Cones, and have the drive to work hard, you can be successful.
“If you want to be an entrepreneur and you see a gap in a market and you say ‘Oh my gosh, I can be original at this product’ or ‘I can be original with this concept’, then go for it,” Jeremy said. “Work your butt off and push your business hard.”
The Carlsons are looking forward to the public seeing Crispy Cones on “Shark Tank” on Friday, March 17.
