REXBURG—On Friday evening local artists and creators will gather at the Romance Theater to share their work at this month’s Rexburg Art Stroll.
The Rexburg Art Stroll is organized by the Rexburg Cultural Arts Department and held multiple times a year, with every Art Stroll event a little bit different. This month’s Art Stroll is a collaborative effort between many local artists.
The theme for the upcoming showcase is “There and back again.”
“We are highlighting artists who have been inspired by their summer travels,” said Jed Platt, the cultural arts director for the city. “So, this will be featuring a variety of artists and a variety of media about their summer inspirations. And with the theme there and back again, we anticipate seeing a lot of map-inspired artwork about your travels.”
In addition to viewing the art, attendees can enjoy the historic Romance Theater where the event is being held.
“We’ve been doing some great renovations to preserve that building and we invite people to come check it out and enjoy the spirit of that place,” Platt said.
There will also be a hands-on art activity where participants become the artists.
“It's a great opportunity to come and learn about everything that will be happening in this coming year through Rexford Cultural Arts and learn how you can be involved with upcoming community choirs, orchestras, all the art offerings that we have,” Platt said. So, it's a great place to know about all those opportunities to get involved in the community, to be inspired by our creative community and to participate.”
The Art Stroll is free to attend and will be held on Friday at the Romance Theater in Rexburg from 5 to 8 p.m. Learn more about Rexburg Cultural Arts at rexburg.org.
