As students prepare for their future careers, BYU-Idaho’s Power to Become, or P2B, Conference offers them the opportunity to discover their passions, learn to network efficiently and gain insights into the professional world from the professional development experience Power to Become offers.

The event is for students, alumni and guests hoping to learn more about how BYU-Idaho graduates can make an impact in the professional world. Engagement coordinator Eve McCulloch hopes people will feel encouraged by the messages.

“I think maybe there are two goals. The first one is that they feel inspired and encouraged in their own capabilities because the speakers provide guidance, kind of like a counsel, on how to move forward,” McCulloch said. “The second goal is that they see that that's connected to BYU-Idaho because I think some people maybe even compare BYU-Idaho to BYU-Provo and think that it is a lesser university when it isn't. And so I think something like Power to Become shows students what is possible from BYU-Idaho.”

P2B is Thursday at 7 p.m. in the Hart Auditorium. Doors open at 6 and there will be a tailgate party starting at 4 with music, food and games.

This year’s speakers are Sydnie Peebles, the founder of luxury handbag brand Sydnie Banks, Peter Nguyen, a spokesperson from the Department of Defense, and Emily Rushton, the founder and CEO of recruiting agency Hire Integrated. The emcee and musical performer is Yahosh Bonner who is a popular gospel musician and influencer.

“We don't have a lot of things on campus where alumni come back to campus, but P2B is one of those opportunities where we get to connect with alumni, hear their stories, “McCulloch said. “A lot of it is kind of workplace driven. So, seeing how alumni went from BYUI into careers that were in alignment with their passions and that's kind of in hope that students will feel encouraged to kind of explore their passions more.”
