Pocatello's All Hallows Eve to Restore Brady Chapel

BYU-Idaho Radio · Pocatello's All Hallows Eve to Restore Brady Chapel
The City of Pocatello is hosting the 5th Annual All Hallows Eve Scavenger Hunt at Brady Chapel and Mountain View Cemetery on Oct. 24. The event is free and lasts from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Jim Anglesey is the Pocatello assistant city planner and the staff liaison to the Historic Preservation Commission. He said the purpose of the event is to connect community members to people of the past, and to help raise funds to restore Brady Chapel.

Brady Chapel will be 100 years old on Memorial Day of 2022, and the city of Pocatello is hoping to raise enough funds to restore it by that date. While the scavenger hunt is free, donations are welcome.

“When people come, we give them a little booklet that has information on people that are buried there, and some notable things they did during their life that contributes to making Pocatello what it is,” Anglesey said.

The city asks all who participate to be respectful of those in the cemetery. Participants will then find information about these notable people on their headstones. Those who complete the scavenger hunt will receive a free small ice cream cone and a chance to win a $5 or $10 gift certificate from Tastee Treat.

Masks and social distancing are required at this event. A food truck selling fair food will be there, and 20% will be donated to the restoration fund of Brady chapel.

Brady Chapel will be a venue that can be used for weddings, funerals, receptions and other events following its restoration, Anglesey said.
