A new food truck sensation and restaurant called Steak N' Berries will open this weekend on September 8 at the Wolfe It Down Food Court in Rexburg.
The food truck will serve up Philly cheesesteaks and acai bowls as their main dishes. Jacob Lerch, the owner of Steak N' Berries, said the company seeks to serve up the best of the best to the Rexburg community.
“Our goal is to, you know, serve up the best cheesesteak, the best acai bowls in town,” he said. “We noticed it was something that was missing in the community. And we know people do love those. So why not bring a combo?”
Lerch said what sparked the idea to bring cheesesteaks and the fruit-based acai bowls together came from the wife of his finance partner.
“So, it was just my buddy, Kimball. He came down one day. And he just started talking to me and my other buddy, Buck, about how he wanted to open a Philly cheesesteak food truck. He pitched an idea to a financier. The financier liked it … and the financier was the one, well his wife is the one, that wanted the acai bowls because she loves them. And so that's where we were like, oh, then we'll just do both. Why not?”
Lerch also said they will give free food to the early birds who show up to their grand opening.
“We would love as many people as possible to show up for our grand opening,” he said. “We plan on having the first 50 people that show up, to get a free combo meal, so they get the chips and a drink for free.”
The ribbon cutting for the food trucks grand opening will begin at 11:45 a.m. on Friday, September 8 at the Wolfe It Down Food Court parking lot.
The Steak N' Berries food truck hours of operation will be Monday through Friday from noon to 8 p.m. and on Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., for more information about the food truck and their menu items follow @steaknberries on Instagram.
