Katie Williams is an avid traveler who loves exploring her home state of Idaho. She started a blog, and an Instagram account called Traveling Spud to share the best spots in Idaho and her favorite places to visit.
With more than 43,000 followers and 2,000 posts, Williams’ content primarily focuses on travel and tips for finding spots in Idaho. Her main hacks for traveling in Idaho are to ask locals where to find the best hot springs in the area and to download routes on maps, to find fun destinations when the internet service is limited. Her favorite destinations in Idaho include Stanley, Twin Falls and McCall.
Since starting her account, Williams has been able to help many native Idahoans and visitors plan their vacations.
“People love Idaho. I think a lot of people skip over it, but people message me all the time, like, ‘Oh my gosh, your blog was so helpful,’ or your Instagram was so helpful in planning my trip. We would not have even stopped in Idaho,” Williams said. “So, to me, it's nice to share and nice to hear when people get so excited because They're just like, wow, this is so close to me and I didn't even know it existed. And now I get to enjoy it.”
Having traveled all over the world, Williams still chooses to explore Idaho because it has so much to offer travelers.
“There's something that's just like a huge breath of fresh air coming back home and coming back to Idaho,” Williams said. “There's a slower pace of life I feel like, the people are really kind and there's so much beauty. There are so many little pockets of places that I can go explore and so I think it's just for me, recognizing how cool, how good we have it.
