IDAHO FALLS—For mothers rebuilding their lives, even the smallest essentials can mean everything. That’s why Two Men and a Truck has partnered with the Idaho Falls Rescue Mission for the second year for its Movers for Moms campaign.

Tyler Perkins, executive director of the Idaho Falls Rescue Mission, said meeting basic needs like food and clothing helps relieve stress for families facing bigger challenges. He said the campaign gives the community a way to support those in need.

“They usually don't have just clothes on their back,” Perkins said. “By the mission providing saying, ‘Look, we got you covered 100%. All your food, three meals a day are done. Snacks for the kids we’ll provide. Toiletries, everything you can imagine, like clothing, we provide all of that. You don't have to worry about those things.’ That kind of lets people take a breath.”

Two Men and a Truck collects donations and delivers them to the shelter. Founder Mary Ellen Sheets was a single mother herself and made supporting women in need one of the company’s core values.

Items needed by the shelter include canned chicken, baby formula, toilet paper, laundry detergent and clothing.

“When we get them donated to the mission then we don't have to spend the money to go purchase those things and it's just a huge help,” Perkins said.

Items can be dropped off at any Idaho Falls Les Schwab locations, Paul Davis Restoration, Ammon Citizens Community Bank and the Idaho Falls Fred Meyer. The drive began last week and runs through April 3.

“One of the most impactful and important pieces of helping someone get out of a tight spot or get back on their feet is providing just those daily essentials that most of us take for granted. So that they just don't have to worry about it,” Perkins said.
