The second annual Make-A-Wish Motorcycle Fun Run is being held this weekend in Idaho Falls.
The event is a motorcycle ride from Idaho Falls to St. Anthony and back to Idaho Falls. Along the way there are opportunities for the riders to enter to win prizes, with all proceeds going to the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
The event started last year when Amy Olzak and Shanna Adkins were looking for ways to help their community.
“Because we do like to ride motorcycles, we decided that we wanted to do something in regards with the motorcycles,” Olzak said. “And if anybody knows motorcyclists, we love helping kids. So, we just decided we would pick a foundation and that would be Make-A-Wish and just run with it. And this is our second year doing it.”
The route will take riders past Russ Freeman Park in Idaho Falls, where The Walk For Wishes East Idaho Fundraiser is taking place starting at 10:30 a.m.
“We ride through the park, we make as much noise as possible, we show all of the kids that we're there to support them,” Olzak said.
There will also be a silent auction online during the event.
“We have so many local businesses, people in our community that have donated to our fun run,” Olzak said. “We got all sorts of stuff, like more than you can even imagine we have on our silent auction and you can join the silent auction without even being at the run. There's a QR code on our Facebook page that all you have to do is scan and you can bid on those items.”
The ride will finish at the Shop Bar in Idaho Falls with a raffle and pizza.
Last year’s event brought around 150 motorcycles to the street to participate in the ride. This year, Olzak hopes that the number of participants and money raised will double. All money raised from the fun run will go to The Make-A-Wish Foundation.
The event begins at Young Grand Teton Harley-Davidson in Idaho Falls on Saturday at 9:30 a.m. You can donate, find information on the event and silent auction on the event’s Facebook page here.
