REXBURG--Madison School District's Celebrate Youth event is happening right now at Porter Park in Rexburg. There are prizes, games, bouncy houses, giveaways from local businesses and more. Macail Chavez, the communications director for the district, says the district loves hosting this event to connect the community with students.

"It's important to also build relationships early on so we can build confidence when the kids go out into the world and start jobs and careers and even just having the resource officers there or having, you know, some of the banks there to be present so the kids know, 'Hey, I know them,’” Chavez says.

She also says the teachers and administrators love seeing the students again ahead of school starting on Monday.

The celebration is open to the whole community. Shuttles from Madison Middle School and Madison Junior High have been arranged so that parking won’t be a problem around Porter Park. Either school will have ample parking and shuttles will run from 1:30-7:30 p.m.

BYU-Idaho will have its own booth set up at the event, welcoming all kinds of students and getting excited for school to start again.

“I think my favorite part is just seeing all the kids arrive, I think that’s the coolest thing ... and the kids come together and play and be able to just have a good time and have fun and just be excited and hang out with their friends. I think that's the best part for me," Chavez said.
