State Rep. Britt Raybould is in Boise for the annual Idaho legislative session. Raybould is on the Environment, Energy and Technology Committee, the Resources and Conservation Committee and the Revenue and Taxation Committee. The session began on Monday with Gov. Brad Little’s State of the State address. Raybould shared her hopes for the session and her thoughts about Gov. Little’s address with BYU-Idaho Radio.
“I think Governor Little highlighted some of the really key investments that we've made in recent years,” Raybould said. “Whether you want to talk about public education, transportation, our water infrastructure. Idaho has made some really smart choices about taking money and putting it into projects that will be here for future generations. And it was exciting to hear him talk about those successes.”
In his address, Little mentioned the importance of preserving and expanding Idaho’s public lands. This aligns with a constitutional amendment that Rep Raybould is working on herself and hopes to issue in the future.
“I just think it's incredibly important and as we saw over the course of last summer, there's a lot of interest and support for protecting our public lands and ensuring that we get to continue to have access to them,” Raybould said. “It's an incredible resource and I think there's a lot to be said about what it means for a state to not only maintain that resource, but to ensure that the public has access to it.”
The Idaho legislative session began Monday and is expected to continue until Spring. You can watch it on the Idaho Public Television website.
