Competitive armwrestling is extremely popular in countries like Europe but has not seen as much traffic in the United States. Yet, there is a growing community of armwrestlers in the US, including the Buetts family from Pocatello who recently competed in the International Federation of Armwrestling World Championships in Orlando, Florida.

Many people ask, “What is there to do in Rexburg?” Well, this weekend there are many local events as part of the potato celebration called “Harvest: Stories, Songs, and Spuds.” Beginning Friday, October 15, harvest events will start at the Romance Theater with performances by storyteller Kim Weitkamp. On Saturday, additional harvest events will be hosted at the Rexburg Tabernacle Civic Center, Rexburg City Hall and the recently renovated Romance Theater.

Pick Me Up, a gourmet soda company dedicated to “picking up” their customers, is a recent addition to the restaurant strip under NorthPoint Apartments in Rexburg. Many students have taken advantage of its walk-thru window and easy street-corner access. Because of the drinks and convenience, Pick Me Up businesses like the one by NorthPoint have been successful even during the pandemic. While some many never wonder how a business begins, there is always a face behind the success.

The Idaho Falls Symphany was not spared from the impact of COVID-19. Because performing is a work so heavily reliant on an audience, the symphony adjusted from having regular in-person performances to virtual ones. Thomas Heuser, the music director of the Idaho Falls Symphony, shared with BYU-Idaho Radio how social media became a greater part in sharing concerts than ever before.

One of the consequences of COVID-19 shutdowns was taking work and school into the home. This meant that kids and parents were no longer separating for these activities but functioning in the same environment. Early 2000s studies have consistently shown that parents are less satisfied with life than single people. However, a recent study highlighted in a Deseret News article shows the correlation between happiness and parenthood has changed.
