As the Easter holiday approaches, stages are set in southeast Idaho to celebrate the resurrection of Jesus Christ through music with the oratorio “Lamb of God” by Rob Gardner.
Witness Music Idaho Falls is a non-denominational sacred music organization. Since 2019, they have performed “Lamb of God” each year around Easter.
“We believe that the music of ‘Lamb of God’ should be central to Easter, just as the ‘Messiah’ is to Christmas,” said acting president Phylicia Fife. “That's our long-term vision of this performance of ‘Lamb of God’ is to celebrate what our Savior did for us, the sacrifice.”
Gardner wrote “Lamb of God” in 2010. The scripture-based oratorio portrays the final days of Jesus through song up to His arrest, crucifixion and glorious resurrection.
You can catch performances all around southeast Idaho at 7:30 p.m. starting Saturday in Pocatello at the ISU Stephens Performing Arts Center with an additional performance at 2:30 p.m., March 31 in Idaho Falls at the Frontier Center for the Performing Arts, April 11 in Blackfoot at the Blackfoot Performing Arts Center and April 21 in Rexburg at Madison High School. All performances are free for the community and seats are first come first served.
“There are a lot of faith building experiences within this oratorio because of the happenings that were going on during the final days of the Savior's life,” Fife said. “We just want to spread this incredible message of hope and peace and comfort in a time when it's hard to feel that. We just really want to invite all to come and join us in the sacred musical retelling of Christ’s life.”
