Tiffanie Judd, owner of Studio 134, the hair studio next to Broulim’s in Rexburg, is reflecting on her first year in business.
Judd says working with each person who sits in her chair is unique and when they sit in her chair it is fun to see how to give them the look they want and how it will work into their everyday life.
Judd recalls one customer who had come to Studio 134 after years of self-dying her hair to be black. Judd says she has been working with the woman and after three visits they have seen great progress getting the woman to her natural white hair.
“It’s been a process,” Judd said. “It’s been three visits and today it was so fun to see her walk out the door and see her smiling. It’s a huge transition.”
Judd says she likes to consider people’s lifestyle, career, individual hair type and whether a person gets their hair cut regularly, to give them a haircut that works for them.
Judd’s parents opened Evans Hairstyling College while in Utah and after taking a break from cosmetology, they opened another location in Rexburg. Though Judd grew up around the cosmetology industry, she never considered going into “hair” until after high school.
“I wasn’t sure what I was going to do after high school,” Judd said. “I was one of those kids that wasn’t quite ready to launch and move away from home, so my dad suggested that I go to beauty school and then figure out things down the road. So, I went to beauty school, fell in love with it and continued that path instead of looking at other educational endeavors.”
Now that Judd has a salon of her own, she wants to ensure that everyone who walks in has a good experience with her stylists. Judd says she wants to tell people that at Studio 134 they work to make everybody’s experience unique.
“I tell every single one of my girls every day, ‘What’s one thing extra you can do for each patron that walks into the door?’” Judd said.
