REXBURG — There are not many places like Rexburg, Idaho. That is according to Janalyn Holt, the CEO for the Rexburg Champer of Commerce. This month and throughout the rest of year, the city and surrounding communities have so much for people to enjoy.
With local elections coming up, the city is giving residents the opportunity to meet those running for office. Tomorrow, Oct. 12, the Rexburg community is invited to attend the “Meet the Candidates” event at the Romance Theater beginning with hors d’oeuvres at 6:30 p.m.
“I'm really excited because Nate Eaton from East Idaho News is going to be our moderator,” Holt said. “I think it is so important, especially when we have an opportunity to know our candidates in such a small city scale.”
With the leaves beginning to change and the temperature dropping, that can only mean one thing — Halloween is right around the corner. Holt says there is so much for people to do during this time of year. Such family-friendly events include Treats on the Streets in Sugar City and “Hocus Pocus” at Heming Village.
Treats in the Streets will take place on Oct. 13 in the park on Main Street in Sugar City from 4 to 7 p.m. The festivities will feature games, hayrides and an army tank.
Hocus Pocus is happening at Heming Village on Oct. 27.
“Rexburg is the best place to have a family and have fun because we do so many cool things,” Holt said.
Holt says that when all of the fun of Halloween is over, next will come a Veteran’s Day celebration. The celebration begins on Nov. 10 at 10 a.m. at Madison High School.
“We're going to do a historic photo with all of the veterans in the area,” Holt said. “Come and be there. Come and be part of history in a different way. You are part of history as a veteran, but now come and be part of history in the picture. We will have a veteran speaker. There will be a little video. And then always my favorite on Veterans Day is when we hear the theme songs of all of the different military branches. And we get to see those veterans of those different military branches stand up.”
Last but not least, as Christmas rolls around, the community is invited to support small businesses by shopping local.
“The chamber is going to join with Hemming on their Christmas at Heming Village,” Holt said. “We are going to do Santa shopping. And what we want to do with that is showcase our area businesses, do some Christmas shopping.”
