This Saturday, the Rexburg Area Chamber of Commerce is holding its 23rd annual Experience Rexburg event, which is designed to welcome incoming students to the new semester and showcase the different businesses, restaurants, activities and opportunities available.

Becca Stucki has been the director of events and communications for the Chamber for nearly a year, and she says this year, the event will be bigger than ever.

“We have 152 booths, so it’s going to be big,” Stucki said. “Last year there were 124 and so we’re up by 30, and we’re really excited.”

There will be food trucks, raffles, games and even businesses offering internships for students at the event.

The Chamber is very pleased by the growth of the event and says it strives to expand every year.

“That’s the thing. We’re trying to make it bigger and bigger each year,” Stucki said. “It used to just be down on Center St. right by campus and was a lot smaller, only a few little booths. So, we’re really just trying to grow it, that’s why we’re at Porter Park where there’s a lot more space and we’re adding games this year. We just want it to get bigger and better each year.”

One new game that’s being introduced is a king-of-the-hill style remote control monster truck battle for prize money.

“We have these big remote control monster trucks,” Stucki said. “It’s going to be a tournament where you try to knock each other off the platform and the last one standing wins. And if you win, you get $10 or you can put your name back into the pot for the chance to play again to win $50.”

Another method the Chamber uses to help the city is by advertising its many small businesses. This gives students the chance to help make an impact in the community.

“We have lots of small businesses that have signed up that are just selling their homemade art,” Stucki said. “Brookies Cookies is coming, other small businesses that are getting their start. Big places too, just so people can see what there is to offer in town.”

Experience Rexburg is Saturday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. in Porter Park. There is no entry fee, and all are welcome.
