REXBURG— A youth theatre conservatory founded in Chubbuck has expanded this year due to high demand.
The Palace Conservatory expanded to Rexburg in February after receiving feedback from the community that they wanted the program there as well.
The Palace Conservatory Coordinator Emily Capson said the community response has been positive, with several students returning to the program after the program’s start in Rexburg earlier this year.
The program teaches students skills such as singing, dancing and acting.
“We’ve heard great things, as far as parents saying, ‘We’re so glad that you’re here because we love something like this for our kids to do, giving them this opportunity,’ as well as it being something additional just to bolster that Rexburg community up,” Capson said.
Now, the program is welcoming students from the community as the new school year begins. The conservatory students are working on putting together “Frozen Jr.” for their 2025 production, giving the conservatory’s students in Rexburg the whole school year to work on their skills leading up to the performance.
The tickets for the show will be available by January, Capson said, and the performance dates will be in April.
Capson said that while the conservatory is not looking to expand further anytime soon, they are seeing growth in Rexburg and hope to eventually expand in the future.
“We’re excited about the feedback we’re getting and really look forward to building that good, solid program there, just like we have here in Chubbuck,” Capson said.
The Palace Theatre Founder and Director Jenna Davies founded the conservatory in 2019. Davies purchased The Palace Playhouse in Chubbuck and rebranded it to be The Palace Theatre.
Davies then launched The Palace Conservatory that fall, which grew rapidly.
