Snare, bass guitar and electric voices are just a little bit of what people will find at The Hangar in Rexburg.
Formerly known as Venue 101, The Hangar offers local musicians a chance to perform for the community. The new location, located just off North.2nd East headed toward the Rexburg Walmart, is a brand-new space with a lot more room. Higher ceilings and a larger stage is exactly what co-owner Keith Meenan wanted from the new space.
“Now we call ourselves The Hangar because we moved to this location and when we walked in looked like an airplane hangar,” Meenan said. “So, we thought we’d play on that, and you know, we have a giant 16 by 16 stage which before we didn’t have that. So, the whole thing is just a giant upgrade.”
With a brand-new sound and space, The Hangar is welcoming all music groups, from indie and country music to rock and metal bands, to perform and share their music. But what makes The Hangar unique are the themed music nights it holds every week.

“On our agenda right now, we do country line dancing on Thursdays, Fridays is DJ and dance party nights, then Saturdays is live bands,” Meenan said. “You get all different diversities and genres of music on Saturdays.”
Meenan is a local musician and production professional. He has worked on professional shows with nearly every big-name artist who has stepped foot in eastern Idaho, artists like Metallica, Garth Brooks and Coldplay.
“We wanted to take professional standards and bring it more to a small capacity because Rexburg has always had an amazing number of musicians,” Meenan said. "They just deserve a good place to play, so now we have it for them. We have a $45,000 sound system, real stage, real lighting and every member of my crew is a pro. So, we do a great job here.”
The Hangar is located at 309 Profit St. in Rexburg and is open to everyone who is looking for new, local music. For more information about the bands or themed nights, you can send a direct message to them on their Instagram page.
