WYOMING—Wyoming Governor Mark Gordon is praising the efforts of the Wyoming Department of Transportation that have enabled the Teton Pass detour to open on Friday.
According to a news release from the governor's office, the detour road is to open midday on Friday near the big fill landslide at milepost 12.8.
Gordon said he applauds everyone who has come together to construct the temporary road after the collapse of the original road, as well as those planning to help in the full reconstruction.
Department of Transportation Public Affairs Officer Doug McGee says crews have used the debris from the landslide to build the detour.
“The material that slid down for now, has mostly remained there,” Doug McGee said. “However, we did remove a large portion of the roadway, the pavement and then some of the material, some of the earth in that area that was actually pulled off to build up the ground for the detour."
