REXBURG—The Tabernacle Choir at Temple Square is set to perform a landmark concert “Songs of Hope” at the Hollywood Bowl, 100 years after its first performance in 1926.

Kelly Taylor, the marketing director for the Tabernacle Choir at Temple Square, is excited for the Hollywood Bowl to experience the uplifting message of hope through music on June 24 and 25.

As the marketing director, Taylor helps spread the message of the choir to the world by making it more accessible to more children of God.

“What we do is radiate what the choir does,” Taylor said.

This concert is a part of a three-year worldwide tour with the Tabernacle Choir at Temple Square. The Hollywood Bowl performance is a benefit concert; all ticket revenue will be donated to charities that care for women and children. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints will match what is raised for the concert.

The Tabernacle Choir at Temple Square is made up of volunteers who are set apart as missionaries of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. The performers set aside time in their lives to share their testimonies through music.

“What we've been doing throughout the world is packaging up what the choir offers, which is missionaries testifying right through music and through song, which allows the spirit to work with people on where they're at and where they're at in their lives and helping them find peace and answers and, a connection to the divine,” Taylor said.

Some guest artists who will sing with the choir are Donny Osmond, David Foster, Katharine McPhee, Stephanie J. Block, Sebastian Arcelus and the Bonner Family. Taylor said all artists who will perform have a connection to the choir.

Taylor shared an experience of the impact of the choir during their world tour. In Peru, 34,000 people were sitting at the national soccer stadium. The Latin artist, Fonseca, came to the stage and played “I’m a Child of God” on the guitar backed by the choir. At one point he held the microphone to the audience and the people sang. It was one of his favorite moments of the tour.

The public can buy tickets at hollywoodbowl.com to see the “Songs of Hope” benefit concert on June 24 and 25 at 8 p.m.

BYU-Idaho will also have a watch party on June 26 at 7 p.m. at the BYU-Idaho Stadium. It’s free to attend and there will be food trucks starting at 6 p.m. The first 2,500 people to attend will get free vouchers to the food trucks.
