Grab your cleats, stretch your hamstrings, put your game face on and hit the fields for a full day of ultimate frisbee. Rexburg Rumble is scheduled for May 31 and is open to anyone and everyone who wants to play some ultimate frisbee.

Trevor Davis is the president and coach for T-Rexburg Ultimate Frisbee, a club team based in Rexburg. He is the mastermind behind the tournament and the creator of Rexburg Rumble. Davis, a BYU-Idaho student and aspiring high school math teacher, has played for T-Rexburg for about two years and has fallen in love with the game.

“As I hopefully am a high school math teacher, I’d love to also coach an ultimate frisbee team at the high school,” Davis said. “It’s not super common in high school, but I’d love to get it started and maybe make that happen someday.”

Davis has high hopes for the tournament, hoping to draw in new recruits for the club team.

“We've been trying to slowly find new ways and find new people to recruit and bring onto the team to kind of bolster our numbers, and ultimate frisbee is a pretty popular sport in the college scene,” Davis said. “So, we know that there's probably a lot of people out there that would love to come out and play if they just had the opportunity to know all about it.”

Seth Bayles is one of those recruits. He has played for the team for about a year now and says it’s been a great learning experience. From learning more about the rules to tips and tricks on how to throw, Bayles has had a positive experience playing for the team.

“I learned a lot more on how I can best improve myself athletically and mentally so that I can just play the best I can and have the most fun I can while playing ultimate frisbee,” Bayles said.

Not only will participants of Rexburg Rumble have a chance to meet and play with some players from the club team, but there will be plenty of prizes from local sponsors for winners. Local restaurants like Five Guys, Cup Bop and Domino’s Pizza will provide gift cards and vouchers, as will some local favorites like Fixology, Chocolate Plunge and Crush.

The 3v3 tournament will include teams of 5 players, allowing for subs. Players can register as a free agent or register in groups and teams. Register on a Google form link or in the T-Rexburg Ultimate Instagram bio.

The tournament is scheduled to start at 10 a.m. at the Upper Playfields at BYU-Idaho, located at 620 S Center St.
