A local singer/songwriter is embracing her love of motherhood and promoting her latest EPby challenging herself to write a new song for Instagramevery day.
Evie Clair is known for appearing on America’s Got Talent season 12 when she was 13. She made it to the bottom five of the top 10. She has continued to write and sing music and has since gotten married and had a baby, which she says is “the dream.”
“I still do shows and I still keep up on my social media and write music and everything,” Evie Clair said. “This is the dream. The dream of being a mom and just having my family in my little house and being able to sing to my baby every night before she goes to sleep. That is the dream.”
Since graduating from BYU-Idaho, and having her daughter two years ago, Evie Clair and her family have settled in Blackfoot. She feels her music has changed significantly.
“Like I was saying, I really feel my music and becoming a mom has just increased my feelings,” Evie Clair said. “I just feel so much deeper now and that really translates into what I write. And when I write about things that are hard, I think about my daughter and the hard things she’ll go through and hoping that I’ll be able to help her through them.”
Last year, Evie Clair released her most an EP entitled "Conversations with Angels.” She said she wanted this song to be her way to reach out to people and to give them comfort in their trials.
“I really wanted to focus on hard things, real hard things that people go through,” Evie Clair said. “It’s not explicitly about God or my faith, but if you look into the lyrics, it’s definitely very faith filled.”
Evie Clair said she told her husband one day that she wanted to do something crazy and was going to write a new song and post it to Instagram every day until her latest work hits 20,000 streams on Spotify.
“I told my husband the other day, I feel like doing something crazy and I don’t want to cut my hair,” Evie Clair said. “So, I think I’m going to do this challenge.”
