After a successful performance at the Paris Olympics, the Idaho Falls jump roping team, Proform Airborne, prepares some of its members to compete in an international competition in Japan.

Assistant Coach Brita Lindstrom said Japan is the world championships and every team member, 22 of them, qualified for Team USA.

“In February we took all of our athletes to North Carolina, and we did a US trials there — and they take the top five in speed events and the top three in freestyle events in the whole country,” Lindstrom said. “The whole country of the United States of America only taking the top three is crazy, but we did have our athletes qualify which was a huge honor. ... And so now they get to go this summer to Japan to represent the United States of America in jump rope.”

Lindstrom said it makes her happy to see her team members succeed and become better individuals in and outside the sport.

“I love to see them succeed, but I don’t just mean in jump rope,” Lindstrom said. “My favorite thing about the sport of jump rope is that it creates good humans.”

Because traveling to the world championships will be expensive, the team is hosting a community show to help with fund raising. The show will be on June 14 in Idaho Falls at Black Canyon Middle School from 6 to 8 p.m.

“We would love to have that support that way from you,” said Lindstrom. “Then give back in the way that we know best, and that’s performing jump rope.”
