Pro-Life, a man formerly known as Marvin Thomas Richardson, is one of six candidates running for governor of Idaho this election season.

The 86-year-old strawberry farmer has run three times prior to this year and is a member of the Constitution party. He told BYU-Idaho Radio he’ll run every two years for the rest of his life, along with his wife, Kirsten Faith Richardson, who has run for state senate 10 times.

While many political candidates run for office to win, that isn’t Pro-Life’s main goal.

“The reason I run for governor, or any other office, is to make people accountable for hearing the truth,” Pro-Life said. “My whole purpose in running is not to win or to see how many votes I can get. I believe that I must tell the truth because I believe that there’s a great judgement after all this is over. If I don’t tell the truth, I’ll be held accountable for not doing that. That’s the only reason I run.”

Pro-Life says Proposition 1, which talks about the Reproductive Freedom and Privacy Act Initiative and the legality of abortion in the state of Idaho, is the most important issue this election season.

“If you don’t have life, you don’t have anything else,” Pro-Life said.“You can’t have health, you can’t have prosperity, you can’t have relationships, you can’t have family, you can’t have marriage, you can’t have anything. When a person goes to vote, if you were not going to vote on anything else, you just want to vote on that. That’s the most important thing on our ballot.”

With election day coming up on Tuesday, Nov. 3, Pro-Life makes the case for why he’s the best candidate for governor of Idaho.

“I’m old, I’ve had a lot of experience,” Pro-Life said. “I have good discernment about people’s motives, and I would not hire anybody that had a selfish motive that wasn’t to really serve the people of Idaho. You can tell that I’m not a mess around kind of guy.”
