Tim Reinke said he first started golfing when his dad joined a golf course in Montana when he was nine. He later began working at the course collecting range balls for the pro who worked there at the time.
“I worked at the golf course there picking up range balls on the driving range for the pro there,” Reinke said. “And so that was kind of my first real job, or part-time job anyway, but that’s when I started playing.”
Reinke officially retired on April 30 and said he will defiantly use some of his time to play more than he used to.
“One thing about being retired, I’ll defiantly play a little bit more, but the game is just fun,” Reinke said. "It’s just, you know, you can never accomplish it the way you want to. Maybe one day a year you play it like you want to, but golf’s a tough game, it’s fun.”
Reinke also said he would use his new free time to continue teaching people who want to better their golfing skills.
“You know, I’m going to continue teaching because I enjoy teaching in the city and the golf pros here are going to let me teach a little bit,” Reinke said. “So I’ll teach a lot of my long time clients and I’m sure I’ll have some new ones.”
Reinke added that he felt he could continue to work at the golf course a little longer but felt it was time to step down.
“I could have worked another several years, but I just decided, ‘yah I’ve been here 45 years and loved every minute of it,’ Reinke said. “But I decided, yeah, let the younger generation take over and they’ll do a great job.”
