Outdoor Idaho is coming to Pocatello next week for a free event.
Outdoor Idaho is a TV documentary series that highlights the beauty of the outdoors in the state of Idaho, and it's coming to the city of Pocatello on Tuesday, Feb. 10 for a free screening of its episode titled "Doing Good in the Great Outdoors."
Outdoor Idaho partners with the Idaho Fish and Game to help make the free screening possible to the public.
"Show appreciation to the volunteers at the different organizations that are highlighted in the program," Atwood said. "Celebrate the work and contributions of those volunteers and educate the public that our organizations can't do the work they do without the help of volunteers."
Tessa Atwood is the volunteer services coordinator for Idaho Fish & Game.
Among the organizations highlighted are the Idaho Fish & Game, Backcountry Hunters & Anglers, and the Idaho Trails Association.
"A lot of folks are going to have their eyes opened to the fact that so many of these organizations use volunteers and rely on them so heavily," Atwood said.
The episode shown at the screening will focus specifically on the Idaho master naturalist volunteers that used a good amount of plant seeds to start a repository and now are using the seeds and what they have grown into on habitat restoration projects. They gather seed from dozens of plant species each year.
Atwood says anyone is welcome to attend.
"You're going to walk away feeling good," Atwood said. "You're going to walk away knowing that there are people in your community who are on things like natural resources, habitat restoration, and making trails accessible for all different types of user groups."
The free screening of "Doing Good in the Great Outdoors" will begin at 7 p.m. at the Bengal Theater on the Idaho State University campus with light refreshments and a meet-and-greet at 6:30 p.m.
